On to Kindergarten!
Big Steps, Bright Futures: Celebrating Our Pre-K Graduates
Throughout June, Gads Hill Center’s sites were filled with music, dancing, proud families, and some very excited young graduates.
Our annual transition ceremonies celebrated children moving from pre-K into kindergarten—including families from both our center-based classrooms and home visiting programs. Across our communities, children sang songs, showed off what they’d learned, played with friends, and soaked up plenty of well-earned applause.

These ceremonies are a joyful way to mark a big step. Over the course of their time in Gads Hill Center’s Children’s Services programs, children have built new skills, made friends, explored their interests, and grown more confident and independent.
Now, most are heading off to kindergarten, their first step into big-kid school. Some will also continue growing with Gads Hill Center through our school-aged Youth Services programs for children ages five and older.
A Celebration for the Whole Family
The ceremonies may center on the kids, but they’re just as meaningful for the parents, caregivers, siblings, teachers, and home visitors who’ve cheered them on along the way.
Families gathered for music, singing, dancing, games, activities, and lots of photos. There were certificates, hugs, proud tears, and plenty of moments when the children made it clear that this was their day.
“We put on the transition ceremonies every year because it emphasizes to the kids and their parents that every milestone, no matter how small, is important.”
- GHC Home Visiting Team
For families in our home visiting programs, the events celebrated everything children and caregivers have learned together at home. Parents and caregivers are children’s first teachers, and these ceremonies gave families a chance to pause and recognize just how much they’ve accomplished.
For children in our center-based programs, the celebrations marked the end of a year spent learning alongside classmates and teachers—practicing new skills, building friendships, asking big questions, and getting ready for what comes next.
Growing Together
These celebrations are possible because of the support children and families receive throughout the year.
Our funders, donors, partners, staff, and volunteers help make sure young children have strong foundations for learning—and that families have trusted people and programs beside them as they move into a new stage.
To our graduates: We’re so proud of you, and we can’t wait to see what you do next.
To their families: Thank you for letting us be part of these important early years.
And to everyone who supports Gads Hill Center’s work: Thank you for helping children learn, grow, celebrate, and take their next big step.
