Research reveals that strong networks and access to resources result in a measurable improvement in community health outcomes. Healthy Moves promotes and strengthens families’ health and their capacity to support children to succeed academically and beyond. We promote holistic family health by partnering with parents, schools, and organizations to provide physical and mental wellness services, foster civic engagement to advance social change, and strengthen families to support their children’s educational success.
Our Healthy Promoters initiative builds engagement and professional development by training adults from our communities to become advocates in the areas of health, nutrition, civic engagement, and mental health awareness. We offer participants a free five-week course for an opportunity to be a paid Health Promoters and be part of the Gads Hill Center’s mission.
Gads Hill Center and UnidosUS have partnered to offer FREE Financial Empowerment sessions to members of our communities. Coaching topics range from savings, credit building, debt management, tax help and many more.
Playstreets is a collaborative initiative sponsored by the Chicago Department of Public Health which supports the development of healthier and stronger communities by creating safe and accessible residential play areas for kids to be active, to learn, and for neighbors to come together. Since 2012, Gads Hill Center has served as a Playstreets Delegate Agency. We provide seed funding, materials, technical assistance, and support to implement programming from community-based organizations on Chicago’s west and southwest sides.
