Chicago, IL On Thursday, October 28th Officer Monica O’Phelan Carter, Paramedic in Charge for the Chicago Fire Department, Public Affairs Division/Public Education visited Gads Hill Center to provide critical information about home fire safety to families in the organization’s Home-Based Head Start program.  Officer Carter also provided families with a booklet reinforcing the importance of having working smoke detectors, an evacuation plan and other helpful information.  Gads Hill hosted this event for families as part of National Fire Prevention Month, an annual event with roots dating back to the Great Chicago Fire that took place in October 1871.  

“Gads Hill is proud to support the efforts of the Chicago Fire Department during such an important time as Fire Prevention Month.  Partnerships such as this help us to educate the families we serve and ensure their health and safety,” said Barbara Castellán, Chief Executive Officer of Gads Hill Center.
