Chicago, IL On Thursday, September 16th, 150 Chicago area T-Mobile employee volunteers spent the day transforming Gads Hill Center to create a more dynamic environment for learning and fun.  In partnership with and supported by City Year, employees painted walls, created inspirational murals, refurbished the playground, and transformed one of the Club Learn after school enrichment program classrooms into a T-Mobile Huddle Up Zone complete with new computers, furniture, books and games.  Alderman Danny Solis (25th Ward) participated in the opening ceremonies for the day and thanked the volunteers for their time and dedication.

Gads Hill Center’s Chief Executive Officer Barbara Castellán noted “Gads Hill Center is pleased to have been selected as the recipient of this incredible day of service.  We are so grateful to T-Mobile and City Year for the time and energy they put into transforming our center.  The completed improvements look fantastic and will inspire our staff and kids for years to come.”

T-Mobile Huddle Up is T-Mobile’s national community outreach and employee volunteer program, connecting kids, primarily from single-parent families in high-need, urban communities with positive people, places and programs. Now in its fifth year, T-Mobile Huddle Up has transformed more than 48 afterschool programs nationwide, and has taken on 10 “extreme makeovers” in 2010.
